Dave Stanley

Dave Stanley, a 20-year-old student at the University of California at Los Angeles, won the longest final and the third to go extra holes, at the Brown Deer Park Golf Course, Milwaukee. His par 4 on the 38th hole defeated Ralph Vranseic, of Denver. Vranseic was five down after 27 holes but one-putted five greens to square the match.

Stanley had been playing golf only five years and had been crippled throughout his youth by osteomyelitis and rheumatic fever. Both finalists had had to play 37 holes to win their semi-final matches. In the Silver Anniversary of the team Championship, the Dayton, Ohio, section made a score of 234 to win for the first time. Bielat lost his title in the third round.
