1952 Omer L. Bogan
The Championship
went to a private club, the Miami Country Club, for the first time on its
return to Florida, but a Californian, Omer L (Pete) Bogan, 35, of South
Gate, was the winner. He defeated Robert J. Scherer, of Decatur, Ill., 4
and 3, in the final.
Like his predecessor, who was beaten by Scherer in the second round,
Bogan represented the Montebello Golf Course. The team Championship was
con by Chicago for the third time with a score of 227. The number of qualifiers
was reduced from 210 to 200. The Championship was the first held by the
USGA under the new Rules which eliminated the stymie.
