More Thunder

Thunderstorms have re-emerged this afternoon and right now it is looking bleak that more golf will be played today. That is definitely going to wreak havoc on the remaining schedule. Fortunately, only one match-play round is on tap for Wednesday, so if we get perfect weather tomorrow, we could be back on schedule.

The good news: the weather forecast through Saturday looks very good.

Watabu On The Move

Defending champion Casey Watabu obviously has shaken off the effects of the 10 he recorded in the first round. Watabu is currently four under par through eight holes of his second round and getting himself in position to make the match-play cut. A lot of players might have thrown in the towel after having such a disastrous score on a hole. But Watabu is showing the true champion that he is by fighting his way back.

Right now the weather is holding out. We have lots of clouds and the winds have picked up, but so far no rain or lightning. Hopefully, we can keep these conditions through dusk.

Rough Going For Defending Champion
Defending champion Casey Watabu of Kapaa, Hawaii, just made a mess of the seventh hole,  making a 10 and moving to seven over par in the first round of stroke-play qualifying. Watabu has struggled this summer to regain the form he had last July when he defeated current PGA Tour rookie Anthony Kim in the final match. At the Sahalee Players Amateur, which ended on Friday in Seattle, Wash., Watabu was disqualified for showing up too late for his final-round starting time due to a major accident that kept him from crossing a bridge en route to Sahalee C.C. Watabu has some work to do if he wants to make the match-play cut in the 2007 APL.
Go Away Birdie
Birdies are generally a good thing on a golf course. But this morning, a large hawk tried to steal a competitor's ball out of a bunker at the 14th hole. The hawk actually got a hold of the ball and moved it into another position before one of the caddies chased it away. As per Rule 18-3, the ball was allowed to be replaced in its original position without penalty.
